Eligiblity

To become a member of the Barry-Eaton Health Plan, you must:
+ Be a resident of Barry or Eaton County, Michigan
+ Have no health insurance of any kind
+ Meet certain income guidelines for your family size (because these change over time, please call us to see if your income qualifies)

Enrollment

If you or your loved one is uninsured, first apply for Medicaid. Medicaid is the best way to get comprehensive coverage for many low-income people, such as pregnant women, parents, and the disabled. You can apply for Medicaid at your local Department of Human Services office. http://www.michigan.gov/dhs/0,1607,7-124-5461---,00.html

What if you don't qualify for Medicaid? The Barry-Eaton Health Plan is designed to provide limited health benefits to adults who don't qualify for Medicaid or Medicare.

The Barry-Eaton Health Plan operates two main programs: Plan A (also known as B-E Healthy) and Plan B. The Health Connections Clinic at the Health Department enrolls people in the Plan B program. The Department of Human Services (DHS) enrolls people in the Plan A program. Because both programs close to new enrollments from time to time, call Health Connections to find out which programs are open to new members and how to apply. Enrollment in the Barry-Eaton Health Plan is limited to those who meet the eligibility standards and on available funding.

Providers

If you are a provider and have questions about member eligibility, coverage, or authorizations for services, please visit www.communityhealthplans.org or call 1-866-715-3702. We contract with the Bureau of Health Plan Management Services, a division of Ingham County Health Department, to manage many aspects of Barry-Eaton Health Plan claims management, provider services, and member services.

BEHP Plan A members are assigned a primary care doctor. Community physicians across Barry and Eaton Counties have partnered with the Health Plan to see BEHP Plan A patients. We thank them for their willingness to see patients in their own office setting, helping to provide a medical home and continuity of care to our members.

BEHP Plan B members must attend Health Connections Clinic at the Health Department for primary care.

Prescription Discount Program

Residents who do not have prescription (medication) coverage may be eligible for the Barry-Eaton Discount Prescription Plan. This program is a way for people without prescription coverage to obtain prescription drugs at discounted prices at their pharmacy. Over-the-counter drugs and experimental medications are not covered. To enroll in the Prescription Discount Program, click here or contact Barry-Eaton District Health Department (517) 541-2614

Partners

The Barry-Eaton Health Plan’s mission is to increase access to health care for the underinsured in Barry and Eaton counties by utilizing community resources, developing partnerships, and coordinating community efforts through an organized system of care. BEHP is one of many County Health Plans across the State of Michigan who provide basic health services to uninsured residents. We partner with many different entities and organizations to make the programs we provide possible. BEHP contracts with the Barry-Eaton District Health Department for Primary Care clinical services for the majority of its members at Health Connections Clinic, including Plan B enrollment services. Other key partners include community physicians who are contracted primary care doctors for Plan A patients, specialty care physicians who see both Plan A and Plan B patients, our community hospitals, and diagnostic providers. We contract with Health Plan Management Services (a division of the Ingham County Health Department) for claims support, member services, and benefits management. Access the HPMS website, including information about BEHP and other county health plans at www.communityhealthplans.org. We collaborate with other local community non-profit agencies to enhance outreach and access to supportive services.
